Karl McKenna graduated from Queens University Belfast
with a degree in law in 2013 and qualified as a solicitor in 2015. Karl trained
with another Belfast firm specialising in criminal work before joining Sheridan
and Leonard in 2017.
Karl specialises in criminal law, assisting clients at
all levels of the criminal process, dealing with matters in the Police Station,
Magistrates Court, Crown Court and Court of Appeal. Karl also has particular
experience before the Parole Commissioners for Northern Ireland dealing with a
range of issues for clients subject to Determinate, Extended and Indeterminate
Custodial Sentences. In addition, Karl has a particular interest in Judicial
Review, having been involved in challenges to a variety of public bodies such
as the Prison Service, Home Office, Department of Justice and PSNI.
Karl has significant experience dealing with family law
matters, particular cases under the Children (NI) Order, including applications
for child contact and residence cases, care proceedings and domestic violence.
